spar with rocky

Earlier today I sparred 6 good solid rounds with Mick "Rocky" Katsidis. It was a great work out. This is the best sparring you can ask for, Mick is number one in the world and awaiting a world title fight, so if you make a mistake he will make you pay and that he did on a couple of occasions, but I felt it was a good hit out for both of us and very solid at times. I felt in good shape and could have did another 2 more rounds. Mick is a good guy, I have a lot of respect for him as a fighter and a person and I hope all of Australia get behind him when his chance comes to fight for a world title, and we don't see to much of the old Aussie tall poppy syndrome. Kenny Hamer, my sponsor from Pool Warehouse and Ace Boxing Promotions Angelo and Nathan Di Carlo were on hand watching the sparring session. Also new professional sensation Tyrone Tongia came out for a look along with my trainer Mark Wilson. A huge thanks to Mick and his trainer Brendan Smith for coming down.

Training update

Hello everyone, I arrived home from Darwin at 6.45pm on Monday night and 15 minutes later I was in the gym training. I trained hard when I was away, I was lucky as I had my trainer Mark Wilson in Darwin as well, so we done some good sessions together. It was also good catching up with one of my sponsors (Greg Wallace from executive Fight club) and Ace Boxing Promotions Angelo Di Carlo who were up there to support boxing. When we first arrived it was around 1am, we finally got in our rooms and to bed around 3am, I was then up at 5.30am doing my road work. I think some of the amateur boxers thought I was crazy and I probley am (LOL) but I new I had to do it. Then on our final night there I think I was the only person not to go out as I new I had to do my road work early in the morning so I had to get my rest. I woke up at 5am to do it, and as I was leaving most of the boxers from most states were just coming home. One of them (Paul Fleming) said "you've got to be mad Chris", I just said to him "no mate I have a job to do and nothing will stop me from doing what I have to do".
Anyway my training is going well, today I was doing a run and stairs at Kangaroo point, tomorrow I spar Mick "rocky" Katsidis, I'll keep you all updated how that goes. Once again to everyone, thank you so much for your support and great comments you send to me, I really appreciate it
take care

Training

Hi all, training is going great, feeling very good. Yesterday I had two good hard sessions, one being a 9km run through Daisy Hill Forest, I call this run the death run because seriously that's what it feels like. I then had a good solid session in one of my trainers, Gareth Williams fitness class. It is a good refreshing training class that pushes your fitness limits. Today I had a weights session then at 2 pm done a boxing session down at my trainer mark Wilson gym in Bethania, consisting of shadow boxing, floor to ceiling ball work, bag work, pad work and some ab work.
Tonight I fly out to Darwin for a week with the Queensland amateur boxing team for the national titles. I have 8 boxers from my club participating in the titles after winning their state championship division. I will have around 2-3 days break as a refresher and train twice a day for the remaining days. So I will post on my return.
till then take care
Chris

Sparring

Today at lunch time out at one of my sponsors and good friends gym (Greg Wallace from executive fight club), I sparred with Australian champion Mick Shaw and champion amateur boxer Brendan Wilson. We all done 8 rounds each. We all had some tough hard rounds and some more thinking easier rounds. A few of the grogan squad (Greg,Steve and Wayne) were out there to watch and I'm sure they would have cringed with some of the shots landed. It was good to get the 8 rounds out and again it's great to get in and work with such good boxers in Mick and Brendan, if I make a mistake, they make me pay. A huge thanks to Greg for letting us use the gym and Steve and Wayne for coming along. Also Mick and Glenn Azar for traveling down.

It's a lonely sport

It's now just past 5.30am on Thursday morning, I was up early doing my roadwork today (8km at 4.15am). Some would call this crazy or ludicrous and yea so do I, this is not the time I do this everyday but yea usually early. I just thought I'd put something on here for my team to feel. All boxers will know what I'm saying or what I'm feeling. It's was so lonely and eerie out there this morning, no cars on the street, no birds making any noises,no school kids screaming, not even a single sole doing their morning walk. The only sounds I could hear were my feet pounding the road, my breathing felt so heavy but it was just so quiet it made my breathing sound so loud, all of a sudden a car drives past or a delivery driver delivering what ever it is he's delivering, but that was pretty rare. I was sprinting hills at 4.30 in the morning. This is painfull but this is what makes me become unbeatable in my mind come fight time. The only thing I could do was think and when I'm running most cases this is where my fight plan is worked out, so much time alone. It's such a lonely sport.

My team

Today I received another sponsor to help me chase my dream. Paul and Diane Lack from NSS (national staffing services) on the gold coast have jump on board to help me out through a friend of mine Dean Kupsch. It is great people like this that make dreams come true. Along with my mate big Butch Buderis from A E SMITH, Greg and Narelle Wallace from EXECUTIVE FIGHT CLUB and Paul and Diane Lack I thank you all so much. Also a huge thank you to RIGHTCROSS, who kit me out in my fighting apparel, MADISON SPORT, who help me out with all my training accessories(gloves, head gears, groin guards, ect). Huia from WE COACH who is helping with my mental training. My trainers Mark Wilson and Gareth Williams. There are also plenty of people who are helping me out in all soughts of ways, my mate Chopper Burgess who's always there for when I need some help or advise. Of course Angelo di Carlo from ACE BOXING PROMOTIONS who has worked so hard in getting this fight together. Glenn Azar and Mick Shaw who have made this fight possible for me and I can't thank them enough. Obviously my family who have to go through all this with me and put up with me. I also have so many close and great friends and supporters who are always there for me and together we all make one team and I have no doubt all of us will win this title together. I will leave no stone unturned.

paul walberg

yea the fight with myself and paul was a great fight. it was my most enjoyable fight so far and to be in the ring with such a classy boxer was a real honour and to come out with a draw was even better ( i thought i'd just done enough to win though, no disrespect). that was a fight i asked for for a challenge. paul is a really nice guy and obviuosly a champion boxer, it was so sad to hear he was in a near life ending accident a few weeks after our fight, that left a sad spot inside me. i can now say he is doing well and is still recovering. his trainer billy hussein told me he's lost a lot of weight and is learning to walk again, it is a long road to recovery. from myself i wish my mate paul all the best and i know he will keep fighting because he's a champion and has a big heart and that's what champions are made off.
thanks
